This
paper presents a series of projects dedicated to creating information systems
based on provincial periodicals collections in Perm. Research results have been
gathered. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation, study and
visualization of Perm newspapers (1914–1919) as a source for the history of
World War I.

The
Republic of Georgia’s National Centre of Manuscripts in 2012–2014 implemented
the project “Digitalization and Database of Original Copies of Historical Documents
Preserved in National Centre of Manuscripts”, funded by the Shota Rustaveli
National Scientific Foundation. As a result, over 5,000 original documents,
from 40,000 that are preserved in the Centre, were described in the database
and digitized. These 5,000 documents are already available for scholars and
other interested persons on the Internet.

The
Chronology of Novgorod Chronicles from
the 11th to mid-15th Centuries database will
provide an opportunity to study calendar systems and to form a clear idea of
the astronomical and mathematical state of knowledge in the northwesternern
Rus’ lands. It will provide search criteria to discover layers in chronicles
and reveal cultural and historical connections between Novgorod’s territory and
neighboring and far-away regions such as Byzantium and Rome.

This
paper presents a general description of the linguo-geographical system “Dialect”,
which is designed for storing, editing, selecting and presenting lexical material
of the Russian dialects between the Kama and Vyatka rivers, collected for the
Lexical Atlas of Russian Folk Dialects, in comparison with another
linguo-geographical projects presented online. Attention is drawn to the
possibility of using a database for creating a dictionary representation of
dialect material.

This
article deals with typology problems arising from an electronic corpus of regional
texts. Using the Circle of Life corpus, the authors describe how to
analyze the functioning of concepts in key regional cultural texts. The
studying of key regional cultural texts in the form of corpora reveals basic
concepts of a local language’s picture of the world and provides a key to
comprehending traditional culture, such as that of the Russian North.
